A Thousand Cuts

A Thousand Cuts

As someone who truly enjoys collaborating with other composers, I must say that my collaboration with Julien Verschooris on the score for A Thousand Cuts was one of my most enjoyable. This rather unique film, made by Jake Horowitz, is filled with tension, romance, mystery and more than a few twists and turns. Julien and I traded back and forth with themes and variations of each other’s ideas. The music was built from the ground up by sharing sketches with Jake very early on as the edit came together. The result, I believe, is a very unique sounding score that not only has some memorable themes, but also all kinds of interesting musical soundscapes and textures that you might hear in the contemporary classical concert hall.
